The cactus only has one goal: to become the best fighter in all the land. But one foe stands in its way: the dummy.

NOTE ABOUT THE SCOREBOARD ON ITCH

Our implementation of the scoreboard does not work with Unity WebGL. When you get to the results screen, you can still go back to the Main Menu or retry with the buttons on the bottom left and right. However, you cannot enter your score. If you want to track your score, you can download a local build and it will hold the scores.


Gameplay Description:

Sling Fighter! is an arcade-style fighting game where you beat a dummy to the death! Use the ropes on the arena as a slingshot, and best the dummy in 15 unique scenarios. Can you defeat the dummy?

The game contains: 

  • A charming, lovable cactus protagonist
  • 15 unique waves
  • A local leaderboard system
  • Mysterious enemies and obstacles that block your path
  • A secret easter egg screen


Controls:

This game can be played with an Xbox Controller or Keyboard/Mouse.


Xbox Controller

  • [Left Stick + A] to begin pulling back on the rope. Release to sling.
  • [Left Bumper] or [Right Bumper] to sidestep.


Keyboard/Mouse

  • Drag [LMB] to begin pulling back on the rope. Release to sling.
  • [A] or [D] to sidestep.
  • [R] to restart level.
  • [ESC] on the main menu to quit.


Gameplay Mechanics

This game takes place in 15 waves. The objective of each wave is to defeat the dummy before time runs out. This is done by repeatedly slinging into the dummy using the ropes in the arena as a slingshot.

  • If the dummy falls off, it will take damage and return to the center of the arena.
  • If the player falls off, they will incur a 5-second penalty.

As the waves progress, obstacles and enemies begin to appear in the arena. Some obstacles change the player's trajectory, while others attack the player. Colliding with a damaging object causes a time penalty to occur.

Each wave gives the player 90 seconds to defeat the dummy. If the player is unable to defeat the dummy within this time, they will be brought to a 'Continue' screen. Here, they may choose to expend 10,000 points to retry the wave.

  • If the player chooses 'Continue,' they will be returned to the wave that they lost. 
  • If the player chooses to 'End,' they will be brought to the Results screen where they can log their name and score onto a local leaderboard system.

Cute game with a great character design. I love that this is controller compatible. I believe that this would be fun to compete with others on! Thanks for making this!
